Foreign Links dominates GDA National Darts Championship

Foreign Links dominated the recently held Guyana Darts Association’s National Championship, carting off the majority of the team and individual awards at the Malteenoes Sports Club.

The tournament attracted three teams, namely Foreign Links Darts Club, Bank of Guyana and Malteenoes Darts team.

Foreign Links, comprising Sudesh Fitzgerald, Christopher Lochan, Anil Lachhman and Hemwantie Balchand, copped the team championship.

Malteenoes, with the likes of Luiz Merlano, Sherwyn Greene, Colin France and Victorine Chandro, took second, followed by Bank of Guyana, comprising Netisha Fordyce, Adrian Damon, Mark Fenty and Melissa Smartt.

In the Trios competition, Foreign Links’ Fitzgerald, Lochan and Balchand teamed up to come out victorious ahead of Merlano, Greene and Chandro of Malteenoes and Fenty, Damon and Fordyce of Bank of Guyana.

Fitzgerald and Balchand of Foreign Links joined forces to cop the Mixed Doubles titles, leaving Merlano and Chandro of Malteenoes to take second and Fenty and Fordyce of Bank of Guyana third.

In the Men’s Doubles, top pair Fitzgerald and Madhoo of Foreign Links emerged champions, with Damon and Fenty of Bank of Guyana second and Merlano and Greene of Malteenoes third.

By virtue of being the lone team with two female players, Bank of Guyana took the Women’s Doubles title via Smartt and Fordyce.

In the Men’s Singles, Fitzgerald (Foreign Links), Luiz Ramirez (Malteenoes) and Lachhman (Foreign Links) top 1-2-3 in that order, while Smartt (Bank of Guyana), Fordyce (Bank of Guyana) and Balchand (Foreign Links) were the top three finishers in that order in the Women’s Singles.

A total of G$400,000 in cash incentives was shared amongst the top performers in the National Sports Commission sponsored tournament.
