Jamaican motorsport is on the brink of a significant breakthrough as emerging talents Tommi Gore and Senna Summerbell, sons of renowned drivers Doug Gore and David Summerbell Jr., are reportedly in advanced discussions with German automotive powerhouse Porsche to secure their primary sponsorship for the upcoming 2025 ADAC GT4 Germany Championship.
Following a remarkable third-place finish in the 2024 ADAC GT4 Germany Championship, the duo has captured the attention of motorsport enthusiasts with their exceptional skill and tenacity on the track.
A partnership with Porsche would represent a pivotal moment for the young Jamaican racers, potentially elevating their profile in the European motorsport arena.
Gore and Summerbell kicked off their 2024 season driving an Audi R8 under the SAPE Motor Sports banner, proudly representing the Caribbean.
Despite initial hurdles, their impressive potential prompted a strategic mid-season transition to a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport with W&S Motorsport.
This change revitalised their performance, culminating in their historic podium finish.
“It’s been an incredible journey for these two young men from Jamaica, who have risen to the occasion against all odds. We are immensely proud of their achievements,” said Doug Gore at a sponsor appreciation event held at the S Hotel in Montego Bay on December 14. “As we look ahead to 2025, we aim to build on this success with Porsche and other partners joining us.”
The 2024 season was groundbreaking for Gore and Summerbell, who secured third place in their debut race and finished in the top five during the final event, marking Jamaica’s first trophies in the series. Their achievements also highlighted Jamaica’s inaugural representation in the prestigious European GT4 motorsport event.
The ADAC GT4 series featured six races at iconic circuits across Germany and Austria from April to October, where the Jamaican duo finished an impressive 14th overall in the Championship standings. Reflecting on their experiences, Summerbell credited family support for their motivation.
“Most nights, our family and friends would check in on us, and that kept us inspired. We’re looking forward to an exciting 2025 series and are determined to exceed our expectations,” Summerbell expressed.
The reception also provided an opportunity for the pair to acknowledge their sponsors, including early backers like Sherwin Williams. Kenneth Richardson, District Manager for Sherwin Williams, expressed pride in their collaboration.
“This partnership is one of the most exciting in motorsport right now. We are thrilled to be part of this historic journey with Tommi and Senna,” Richardson remarked.
Other sponsors included the S Hotel, Q8 Oils (Bearings and Accessories), Sandals Resorts, Jamaica Tourist Board, Barita Investments, Mobay Freight, JSRA, and Bell Safety. Christopher Issa, CEO of the Crissa Group, praised the duo for their teamwork and commitment.
“This is a triumph for brand Jamaica,” Issa stated. “Tommi and Senna have demonstrated that teamwork leads to success. We are proud to support their groundbreaking achievements and eagerly anticipate the 2025 season.”
Following in the footsteps of their legendary fathers, Doug “Hollywood” Gore and David Summerbell Jr., who have competed at the highest levels of motorsport, Gore and Summerbell are determined to leave their mark.
After gaining valuable experience in the Caribbean Radical Cup and Radical Cup UK, Gore made his Formula 4 Central Europe debut in 2023.
Reflecting on their 2024 journey, he shared, “Seeing the big names in the series made us optimistic about finishing in the top 10. Our podium finish was a monumental achievement for us and for Jamaica. We are excited to push even harder in 2025.”
Summerbell, a four-time Jamaican karting champion, has also competed internationally in events such as the Radical Caribbean Cup and Formula Prototype Canada.
He acknowledged the unwavering support of family and friends, stating, “Balancing school, racing, and scouting for sponsors was challenging, but their belief in us kept us going. This is just the start.”
With Porsche potentially stepping in as a major partner, Gore and Summerbell aim to build on their 2024 success and secure their place among Europe’s elite racers.
Their journey exemplifies perseverance, teamwork, and national pride, inspiring a new generation of Caribbean motorsport talent.
As the motorsport community looks on, these Reggae Racers are proving that with passion and determination, the Jamaican flag can soar high on tracks around the globe. (SportsMax)
