The decomposed remains of Akeem Bruce, 26, was discovered on Monday afternoon at the Cove and John foreshore, East Coast Demerara.
Police Headquarters reported that Bruce was found lodged at the water’s edge among mangrove trees.
The body was positively identified by Bruce’s aunt, Monique James.
Bruce, a labourer from Haslington New Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara, had been missing since December 13. A report was made by his sister to the Enmore Police Station on December 14.
According to the report, Bruce had left home at approximately 16:00 hrs on December 13 and was a patient of the Psychiatric Clinic at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Police said the body was examined by detectives who found no visible marks of violence.
