A 63-year-old taxi driver collapsed and subsequently died while in custody at the Alberttown Police station Monday night.
Dead is Bryan Lychcott of Meadow Bank Gardens, Georgetown.
According to a police report, Bryan was arrested at about 18:30hrs while on Durban Street for dangerous driving after he hit two parked cars. Police said he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. He was taken to the Alberttown Police Station for a breathalyzer test but at about 19:27hrs he collapsed.
“He was sitting on the prisoner’s bench. At 19:27 hrs, Bryan collapsed to the ground in the said Enquiries Office, motionless,” police stated.
Police said no mark of violence was seen and no foul play was suspected.
The CCTV cameras at the Police station were viewed by detectives and they captured when Bryan was taken to the station and also when he collapsed to the ground.
The body was escorted to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, awaiting an autopsy.
