Bryan Lychcott, the taxi driver who collapsed and died while in custody at the Alberttown Police station suffered a heart attack, an autopsy on Wednesday confirmed.
Police Headquarters confirmed the findings of the autopsy which was performed by Government Pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh.
Lychcott, 63, of Meadow Bank Gardens, Georgetown died on December 16.
Police said Bryan was arrested at about 18:30hrs while on Durban Street for dangerous driving after he hit two parked cars.
Police said he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. He was taken to the Alberttown Police Station for a breathalyzer test but at about 19:27hrs he collapsed.
CCTV cameras at the Police station were reviewed by detectives and they captured when Bryan was taken to the station and also when he collapsed to the ground.
