Saif Ally, a 22-year-old resident of North Sophia, Georgetown, was allegedly murdered by a mechanic whose father was attacked by Ally.
Police Headquarters reported that Ally went to a Sophia residence at about 20:00 hrs on Friday and, reportedly without provocation, slapped Christopher Julian several times.
Julian and Ally were said to be known to each other; it was also noted that Ally appeared to be intoxicated.
Julian’s son, 31-year-old Allin Sahoye, a mechanic, saw what transpired and got into an altercation with Ally. They began hitting each other.
“They then ended up on the southern side of the Lilendaal Railway Embankment, where the suspect [Sahoye] dealt the victim a stab to his chest with a knife. The victim then fell to the ground motionless, while the suspect made good his escape,” Police said.
Later, when Police ranks arrived at the scene, Ally’s body was found with a stab wound on the centre of his chest. He was later pronounced dead.
Efforts are being made to locate Sahoye, the prime suspect in the case, as investigations continue. Ally’s body will also undergo a post-mortem examination.
