Dinesh Persaud, a Blairmont, West Bank Berbice, resident was on Monday remanded to prison following the charge of theft involving a vehicle belonging to Ramgsch Dasrat.

Dasrat is a contractor from ‘D’ Edward Village.

Persaud, 28, appeared before the Blairmont Magistrate’s Court. The proceedings were overseen by Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir.

The court was informed that the alleged theft occurred on December 26th, 2024, when Persaud reportedly unlawfully took possession of a motor car, specifically a Fielder wagon with the license plate PAG 8827, which was valued at $3.2 million.

Subsequent investigations revealed that the stolen vehicle was located on New Year’s Day in Diamond, situated on the East Bank of Demerara, where it was found in Persaud’s possession.

During the court proceedings, the bail application was firmly denied by Magistrate Mohabir, resulting in Persaud being remanded to custody.

He is scheduled to make his next court appearance on January 28th, where further proceedings concerning the charge against him will take place.
