Police find bag of marijuana at Mahdia Arcade

A bag containing 66 grams of marijuana was found and seized by the Police during a raid at the Mahdia Arcade in Region Eight on Wednesday.

According to a statement from Police Headquarters, the raid was carried out at about 11:00hrs by a Detective Inspector Seetaram and two other ranks.

During the process, several persons were searched for illegal firearm, ammunition, and narcotics. However, Police said nothing illegal was found on their persons.

However, during the search, Inspector Seetaram found a black plastic bag containing suspected cannabis under a black ‘water tank’.

The suspected cannabis was photographed and taken to the police station, where it was weighed and amounted to 66 grams.

Investigations are ongoing.
