As the distribution of the $100,000 cash grant continues, a total of 90,000 cheques were handed over to Guyanese adults by the end of 2024.

The recipients include public sector workers, pensioners, and residents of hinterland regions, Finance Minister, Dr Ashni Singh said on Friday while presenting the 2025 National Budget.

According to Dr Singh, the initiative will continue in 2025 with focus being placed on coastal regions. Over 400,000 Guyanese registered for this venture already and 300,000 cheques have already been printed.

In doing this, Dr Singh pointed out that systems have been put in place to ensure all beneficiaries are covered.

The government’s $ 100,000 cash Grant Initiative was announced by President Irfaan Ali in October last and every Guyanese citizen 18 years old and over will receive the funds.

Altogether, the transfer will see about $60 billion of disposable income being placed into the pockets of Guyanese.

“Its implementation to date has been largely a success when considering the immense scope and scale of operation,” Dr Singh said.
