A 47-year-old man was Monday nabbed with 1,659 grammes (or about 3.6 pounds) of marijuana.
Police Headquarters reported that ranks from the Providence Police Station on the East Bank of Demerara (EBD) went to Peter’s Hall, acting on information received. While there, they saw the man sitting under the bus shed with a backpack on his back.
The man’s backpack was searched and three bulky parcels containing a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis were found.
The man was then arrested and escorted to Providence Police Station where the narcotics were then weighed and amounted to 1,659 grammes.
He was placed into custody pending further investigation and charges.
