Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Sunday evening on Christiani Street, North Ruimveldt, Georgetown. The incident reportedly involved two security guards who were fired upon while driving a company vehicle.
The victims, identified as Jamaul Brown, a 27-year-old security guard from Leopold Street, Georgetown, and Akeem Emmanuel, a 35-year-old security guard known as ‘Pappi’ from North Ruimveldt, were employed by Chung Global Inc., a construction company.
According to Brown, the events unfolded around 18:57 hrs when he received a call from the company owner, Cleon Chung, instructing him to pick up Emmanuel for work.
Brown, who was driving a Toyota Premio (registration number PAD 5418), went to the designated location in North Ruimveldt, picked up Emmanuel, and began heading back to the office. As Brown slowed down to navigate a pothole, he reported hearing several loud explosions, which he believed to be gunshots.
In a state of panic, Brown quickly drove away at high speed, eventually turning onto Aubrey Barker Road. There, the two men stopped the vehicle, exited, and immediately proceeded to the East La Penitence Police Station to report the incident.
Upon processing the scene, police recovered three 9mm spent shell casings. These were marked, sealed, and lodged as evidence. Investigators also found three suspected bullet holes on the right side doors of the vehicle, and the driver’s side window was shattered. The car was photographed and secured at the police station for further examination.
A search for CCTV footage in the area yielded no results, and while several individuals were questioned as part of the investigation, the police have yet to identify any suspects.
