After enduring years of abuse, a 34-year-old sweeper cleaner was on Wednesday brutally murdered by her partner of eight years with whom she parted ways just one month ago.

Dead is Bibi Fazila Ally of Lusignan Grass field, East Coast Demerara.

The incident occurred around 12:15 hrs at the suspect’s Annandale Sand Reef, ECD home, shortly after Ally was noticed absent from the Annandale Primary school where she worked.

After committing the heinous act, the suspect, Bidraj Ganesh known as ‘Boy’, a 52-year-old carpenter, entered a taxi and fled the scene.

He was subsequently apprehended at the Enterprise cemetery. The suspect told the Police that he wanted to take his own life. So, he was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he is currently under Police guard.

The murder occurred at the suspect’s Annandale, ECD house

Reports are that the couple shared an eight-year relationship. They have an eight-year-old son together.

However, the relationship ended in December 2024 when the suspect accused Ally of infidelity and threatened her.

Though reports were made to the Police, no action was taken.

So, in fear, Ally moved and went to live with her parents. Though she did, she still visited the suspect’s house during her lunch break from time to time.

Things took a turn for the worse on Wednesday, when Ally’s son rushed over to the school to inform teachers that his mother was being attacked.

Before they could arrive at the scene, Ally was brutally attacked and was found in a pool of blood.

The matter was reported to the Police and Ally was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ally’s mother, Babita Ally told reporters that though her daughter tried to escape for her safety, the suspect kept after her.

In fact, she said the suspect kept asking Fazila to reconcile.

“He (suspect) threaten the gyal. Every time he ah threaten the gyal.
