In a bid to widen opportunities for business owners and entrepreneurs while promoting financial inclusion, the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI) has launched its MasterCard Executive Business Credit Card.
Defined as a financial tool, the GBTI MasterCard Executive Business Credit Card offers features such as online banking, customizable limits, and access to a substantial credit limit. One of the cards boasts a limit of up to US$250,000.
Additional features include the ability to manage business finances at the customer’s convenience, as well as the management of up to 20 accounts.
The bank launched its newest product on Friday during a ceremony held at its Kingston, Georgetown location.
GBTI Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Shawn Gurcharran stated that, in today’s evolving business environment, executives and entrepreneurs need a wider range of payment solutions.
He said that the MasterCard Executive Business Card is specifically tailored to meet the changing needs of business leaders, offering exclusive benefits, enhanced security, and seamless financial management that will transform the way business is conducted.
“The MasterCard Executive Business Card is designed to do exactly that. At GBTI, innovation is at the heart of everything that we do. We continue to strive to provide solutions not only to meet the demands of everyday business but also to anticipate the challenges that may appear tomorrow,” Gurcharran said.
In his address to those gathered, Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh noted that, over the years, GBTI has consistently delivered by expanding its reach and adapting to the evolving economy.
He observed that the acceptance of international credit cards by businesses has increased significantly, paving the way for a broader range of products available to local businesses and entrepreneurs.
“There is scarcely a serious business in Guyana that does not accept international credit cards,” Dr. Singh said.
According to Dr. Singh, initiatives like these contribute to promoting cashless transactions.
“We would like to see a significant reduction in the use of cash in the domestic economy. Improved access to credit and debit cards, as well as online platforms and digital solutions for the execution of day-to-day transactions, are always a welcome thing because they help us move closer to realising the objective of a more cashless society,” Dr. Singh explained.
To apply for the GBTI MasterCard Executive Business Credit Card, individuals can visit any of the bank’s locations.
