Berbice motorcyclist killed in collision at Eversham

A 35-year-old motorcyclist lost his life in a road accident early Monday morning on the Eversham public road in Corentyne, Berbice.

The fatal collision, which occurred around 07:15 hrs, involved a motorcycle and a motorcar. According to police reports, the crash involved motorcar #PMM 9127, driven by a 67-year-old resident of Eversham Village, and motorcycle #CN 6524, operated by the now-deceased Edwin Hartman, a resident of Dukestown, Corriverton.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the motorcar was heading north along the western drive lane at a normal speed when the driver allegedly pulled to the western side of the road and came to a stop. He then turned on his right-side indicator in preparation for a turn. However, while executing the maneuver, Hartman’s motorcycle crashed into the right-side front and rear doors of the vehicle.

Hartman sustained severe injuries and died at the scene. His body has been transported to the Port Mourant Hospital mortuary, where a post-mortem examination is pending.

The driver of the car is currently in police custody, assisting with the ongoing investigation.

Authorities are urging motorists to exercise caution on the road as investigations continue into this tragic incident.
