Pork-knocker wounded after shot with arrow and bow

Edith Gouveia, a female pork-knocker, is now hospitalised after she was allegedly shot with an arrow and bow during a confrontation with her son-in-law on Friday night.

The incident took place at about 21:00 hrs at a camp owned by Gouveia which is situated at Five Star Landing, North West District.

According to a Police report, the suspect, Romel Thomas called ‘Soldier’ went to Gouveia camp while intoxicated so she chased him out.

This caused him to become angry and returned with an arrow and bow to the camp, wounding her to her back.

Police said the suspect then escaped in a canoe.

Gouveia was taken to the Baramita Hospital and taken transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Her condition is listed as stable. Investigations are ongoing.
