Bartica’s Dagg Point Ground hosts innovative T20 Tournament

The Dagg Point ground in Bartica has become a buzz for cricket, hosting a unique T20 tournament designed to nurture young talent within the community.

This is their first tournament in nine years.

The tournament, spearheaded by Delroy Jacobs, features an innovative pitch setup: a specially prepared concrete surface for batsmen at one end and traditional mud turf for bowlers at the other.

This thoughtful approach aims to minimize the risk of injuries to the bowlers.

The tournament has witnessed explosive batting performances as Bartica Super Stickers posted a mammoth 268 for 2 in their allotted 20 overs.

Ronaldo Jeffrey was the star of the show, smashing an unbeaten 168.  Ricardo Williams, who contributed a quick-fire 58, ably supported him.

Despite the imposing total, several bowlers managed to make an impact. Delroy McIntosh was economical, conceding just 15 runs in his three overs without picking up a wicket.

Devon Schroeder grabbed a wicket but went for 51 runs in his four overs.

In response, Bartica Under Dagg struggled to chase down the daunting target, eventually being bundled out for a total of 76, with only Kevon Stephens reaching double figures with 40.

Bartica Super Strikers was led by Kevon Stephens, who took 4-15 in 4 overs, while Ashberk Hohenkirk baggeg 1-13 in three overs.

Garfield Phillips was particularly impressive, taking two wickets without conceding a single run in his two overs, while Josh Allen and Keanu Harry also picked up two wickets each.
