Persistent rain washed out the entire second day of the Guyana Harpy Eagles’ pink-ball match against the West Indies Academy at the National Stadium, Providence, in round three of the 2025 West Indies Four-Day Championship.

Hopes of a late restart were dashed when further rain arrived just after the players completed their warm-up.

The covers remained firmly in place throughout the day, following a curtailed opening day that saw only 25.4 overs bowled.

The third day is scheduled to begin at 12:30h, but further rain is forecast.

On day one, Harpy Eagles strangely opted to bat first against the pink ball in overcast and extremely windy conditions.

They were soon 37-3, with left-arm medium-fast bowler Jediah Blades removing Matthew Nandu (1), Tevin Imlach (4), and Raymond Perez (29) in a fiery opening spell.

Kevlon Anderson and Kemol Savory then forged a partnership of 39 in between rain breaks before Anderson was trapped leg before by Johann Layne for 22.

Savory (20*) and Kevin Sinclair (eight not out) were the batters at the crease when another downpour brought a premature end to the first day.

The defending champions, Harpy Eagles, are eyeing a third straight victory after defeating Barbados Pride and the Combined Campuses and Colleges in the first two rounds.

On the other hand, West Indies Academy is searching for their first win after heavy defeats to Leeward Islands Hurricanes and Barbados Pride to start the tournament.

Below are the summarised scores from the other matches:

At Kensington Oval in Barbados: Jamaica Scorpions 231 all out from 67.5 overs (Odean Smith 50, Jeavor Royal 43; Chaim Holder 3-66, Kraigg Brathwaite 2-1, Jomel Warrican 2-42, Kemar Roach 2-45) & 26-1 from 12 overs (Kirk Mckenzie 14*, John Campbell 8*; Kemar Roach 1-10) vs Barbados Pride 293 all out from 86.4 overs (Jonathan Drakes 108, Leniko Boucher 55, Chaim Holder 26*, Matthew Forde 26; Brad Barnes 6-94, Jermaine Blackwood 2-32). Jamaica Scorpions trail Barbados Pride by 36 runs with nine wickets remaining.

At Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba: Trinidad and Tobago Red Force 529-5 dec. from 125 overs (Jason Mohammed 204*, Joshua Da Silva 152, Amir Jangoo 60; Rahkeem Cornwall 3-127) vs Leeward Islands Hurricanes 45-0 from 13.5 overs (Mikyle Louis 23*, Kadeem Henry 17*).  Leeward Islands Hurricanes trail Trinidad and Tobago Red Force by 484 runs with 10 wickets remaining.

At Windsor Park in St. Kitts: Combined Campuses and Colleges 216 all out from 71.3 overs (Damel Evelyn 53, Johann Jeremiah 40, Demario Richards 30; Darel Cyrus 5-71, Kenneth Dember 3-68 vs Windward Islands Volcanoes 232-8 from 69.4 overs (Gian Benjamin 49, Kenneth Dember 40*; Akeem Jordan 4-49, Romario Greaves 3-55). Windward Islands Volcanoes lead Combined Campuses and Colleges by 16 runs with two wickets remaining.
