Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha commenced the Holi season with two beautiful Chowtaal Samelans in Guyana and the USA.

The USA Praant’s Chowtaal Samelan attracted a large gathering at the Prem Bhakti Mandir, and featured a number of Gols, songs and dances.

In Guyana, President Dr. Vindhya Vasini Persaud and Executives of the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha hosted mandirs at the Dharmic Kendra in Prashad Nagar on Sunday, March 2nd, 2025. The lively event showcased 10 Chowtaal Gols from mandirs across Berbice and East Coast Demerara, singing festive Phagwah songs from their East Berbice, West Coast, and East Bank Demerara Praants.

Dharmic Sabha’s five-decade-old tradition of Chowtaal Samelans will continue across Guyana on Wednesday, March 5th, at 6:30 pm at CI Dharmic Mandir, WCD, and on the East Coast of Demerara on Sunday, March 9th, at 10:00am at Mon Repos Satya Narayan Mandir.

The Rajhastani Bhawani Dance Troupe of India will perform at two of the Chowtaal Samelaans in Berbice on Sunday, March 9th, at Crabwood Creek Shri Krishna Mandir  at 2:00pm and Reliance Veda Centre at 5:30pm. The Indian Dance Troupe will perform through a collaboration between High Commission of India, Indian Council for Cultural Relations and Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha. The events are open to the public. Chowtaal Samelans will also be held by Central C/tyne and West Berbice Praants on Sunday 9th.

All are invited to these beautiful traditional Chowtaal sevents started by Pt. Reepu Daman Persaud , 5 decades ago. Today, children, youth and women are all part of this melodious tradition which signals the approach of Phagwah or Holi (Press release from the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha)
