Lausanne, one of 3×3’s heavyweights, will journey to Georgetown for the One Guyana 3×3 Quest, set for April 5-6 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

The tournament’s winning team will earn a coveted spot in Edmonton, Canada, one of the circuit’s most celebrated stops on the 3×3 World Tour.

After a seventh-place finish at the 2024 World Tour in Edmonton, Lausanne, ranked 11th globally by FIBA, is looking to book its ticket back to Canada.

However, to do so, Lausanne must first navigate a highly competitive field in the One Guyana Quest, which will feature some of the most talented 3×3 teams from across the Americas.

Lausanne’s roster is a blend of seasoned veterans and rising stars, featuring some of the most elite 3×3 players worldwide.

At the forefront of the squad is Carlos Martinez, Spain’s number-one-ranked 3×3 player and a prominent figure in the global 3×3 scene.

Known for his sharp strategic play and composure under pressure, Martinez is an essential asset in Lausanne’s quest to secure a spot in Edmonton.

Joining Martinez is Gilles Martin, a dynamic and flamboyant player from Switzerland, currently ranked fourth in his country by FIBA.

Jonathan Dubas, ranked second in Switzerland, is also an important member of Team Lausanne.

Hailing from La Tour-de-Peilz, Dubas has represented Switzerland on the national team and plays professionally in Sweden, bringing a wealth of experience to the Lausanne squad.

Rounding out the team is Przemyslaw Zamojski from Poland, a seasoned 3×3 star with an extensive international resume.

Zamojski is Poland’s top-ranked 3×3 player and has earned numerous accolades, including bronze medals at the 2019 FIBA 3×3 World Cup, the 2023 European Games, and the 2021 Europe Cup.

With Olympic experience in both the 2020 and 2024 Games, where he finished seventh and sixth, respectively, Zamojski adds further depth to the Lausanne line-up.

Together, the world-class quartet brings a blend of experience, flair, and international pedigree to Lausanne, making them a formidable contender in the One Guyana 3×3 Quest.

The One Guyana 3×3 Quest is not only a major milestone for the participating teams, but also a historic event for the Caribbean.

It will be the first-ever 3×3 Quest held in the English-speaking Caribbean, and it promises to shine a well-deserved spotlight on basketball in Guyana and the broader Caribbean region.

The tournament will feature teams from across the globe, including representatives from Guyana, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, the USA, Trinidad and Tobago, Mexico, Bermuda, St. Kitts and Nevis, Grenada, Guatemala, Suriname, St. Maarten, St. Lucia and the Cayman Islands.

Rawle Toney, Vice-President of the Guyana Basketball Federation (GBF) and Coordinator of the tournament, noted that “having Team Lausanne compete at the One Guyana Quest adds quality to the tournament that’s on par with any of the top 3×3 events globally. Lausanne is a formidable team, and being one of the top teams in the world, playing in Guyana adds tremendous value and recognition to what we’re trying to achieve in the Caribbean.”
