‘Chicken man’ charged with inciting murder of Surinamese national

Seeindra Marimutoo, known as “Chicken Man”, a 44-year-old poultry vendor from Lot 3, Portuguese Quarters, Corentyne, Berbice, has been charged with inciting murder against Marciano Michel Nelson, commonly known as “Dutchie”.

On Monday, March 24th, Marimutoo appeared at the Whim Magistrates Court before Magistrate Tuanna Hardy.

After the charge was presented, he was not required to enter a plea. Magistrate Hardy has remanded Marimutoo to prison, and he is scheduled to return to court on April 4.

In addition to this charge, Marimutoo is also facing a manslaughter charge in connection with the death of 18-year-old Permand Pertab.

On December 31, 2024, Nicholas Chinarine, known as “Kakoo,” aged 24, and his brother Christopher Chinarine, referred to as “Dead,” aged 22, along with Michael Anthony Brijjader, also called “Mickey,” a 31-year-old laborer from Lot 221 in the area, were charged and remanded for the murder of Nelson. The Chinarine brothers have confessed their involvement during police interrogations, providing crucial evidence for the case.

Reports indicate that these siblings were lured into committing this violent crime by Marimutoo, who promised them a significant financial reward in the millions.

On October 26, 2024, 18-year-old Parmand Pertab, known as “Mikey,” from Lot 45 “C” Hampshire Village, Corentyne, was murdered by a vigilante group in Port Mourant after allegedly robbing a goldsmith at the local market. During his escape, Pertab faced a brutal confrontation resulting in his death, an event captured on video showing armed individuals inflicting severe injuries that led to his collapse.

Subsequently, Marimutoo was arrested and charged.

The suspects have stated that Marimutoo orchestrated the crime by having his sister contact the Chinarine brothers to eliminate Nelson, who had implicated him in Pertab’s murder. They revealed to detectives that payment was promised upon the suspect’s release.

According to the investigation, the two brothers provided detailed accounts of how they assaulted the Surinamese national in his home and disposed of his body in a nearby trench. On December 27, 2024, they guided investigators to the scene and pinpointed the location where the body was discarded.

Furthermore, police apprehended Marimutoo’s sister and two other witnesses who were present during the murder. However, Marimutoo’s sister and one of the men were later released after questioning.
