Two Essequibo Coast drivers get bail for drunk driving

Two drivers were recently charged for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Anesh Dindyal, 24, of Vilvoorden, Essequibo Coast, was arrested on March 14, 2025, on the Cullen Public Road, Essequibo Coast.

Last Friday, he made his appearance at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Tamieka Clarke. He pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined $150,000; or three months imprisonment in default.

In a separate case, Shailandra Narine, 28, of Zorg, Essequibo Coast, was also charged with driving a motor vehicle whilst his breath alcohol level exceeded the prescribed limit.

Narine was also arrested on March 14.

When the case was heard at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court, before Magistrate Tamieka Clarke, he pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Narine was granted $50,000 bail. The case was adjourned to April 3rd, 2025 for disclosure of statements.
