Guyana Cricket Board President’s Congratulations Speech

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport Honourable Charles Ramson Jr., esteemed members of the Guyana Cricket Board, colleagues at the National Sports Commission, members of the media, honoured guests, and, of course, the proud and victorious Guyana Harpy Eagles.

Good morning. It is with immense pride and a deep sense of joy that I stand before you today to officially welcome our champions- the Guyana Harpy Eagles- back home after their outstanding victory in the Cricket West Indies Regional Four-Day Tournament.

This victory marks the eighth time in the last 10 years that our beloved team has claimed the title, a testament to the hard work, dedication and resilience of our players and coaching staff.

To the players: You have once again proven what it means to wear the Guyana Harpy Eagles uniform with honour. Your performances throughout the tournament have been nothing short of extraordinary.

Each run, each wicket and each moment of determination displayed by you on the field has filled us all with immense pride. You have continued to set the benchmark for excellence in West Indies cricket, and for that, we salute you.

To the coaching staff and management: Your unwavering commitment to excellence, the nurturing of talent, and the strategic planning that has shaped this team’s success cannot be overstated.

You have been instrumental in fostering an environment where players are motivated to push their limits and deliver their best. Thank you for your dedication.

And to the supporters, both near and far: Your unwavering belief and passion for the Guyana Harpy Eagles has been a source of strength for the team. Your unwavering faith, and your endless support have also helped carry the team to this victory.

The players draw energy from you, and your loyalty does not go unnoticed.

As we celebrate this victory, it is important to reflect on the legacy we are building.

The Guyana Harpy Eagles are not just a team; they are a symbol of excellence, perseverance and the pride of our nation.

Your commitment to the game and your pursuit of greatness inspires future generations of cricketers in Guyana and the Caribbean.

I also wish to take this opportunity to thank Cricket West Indies for organising this prestigious tournament, and to extend congratulations to all the teams that participated.

Cricket in the region continues to grow, and it is the hard-fought competition that makes victories like this one so sweet.

To His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, Honourable Charles Ramson Jnr and by extension the Government of Guyana, our sponsors, and the countless volunteers who make these achievements possible, we express our deepest gratitude.

Without your support, this success would not have been possible. Today, we stand together, as one nation, celebrating the triumph of the Guyana Harpy Eagles.

Let this victory not just be a moment of celebration, but a motivation for all of us to continue supporting and nurturing the game of cricket in our beloved Guyana.

Once again, congratulations to the Guyana Harpy Eagles!

You have made us all incredibly proud. May this victory be the catalyst for even greater success in the years to come.

IT IS TIME FOR US TO CELEBRATE AND CELEBRATE WE MUST!

Let’s hear it for the champions! Thank you.
