Godfrey Munroe has been re-elected unopposed as President of the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) for another term.

The decision was confirmed at the association’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), which was held on Sunday at the Guyana Olympic Association Building in Liliendaal.

The former national player has led the GTTA since 2014 and is also the current President of the Guyana Olympic Association.

Businessman Ramdeo Kumar, who has been elected the new senior vice president, will join Munroe in leading the executive committee.

Kumar secured the position with an 8-4 victory over Linden Johnson. Johnson had initially declined the nomination, but his subsequent change of heart came after the deadline, necessitating a contested election.

Linden Johnson, who has served the association since 2014 and held the position of General Secretary in the previous term, will now take on the role of Junior Vice-President.

The newly formed executive committee also sees Andrew Daly, a former Vice President, step into the role of Secretary and Deidre Baynes–Edghill assume the responsibilities of Treasurer.

From left (seated): Andrew Daly, Chelsea Edghill, Ramdeo Kumar, Godfrey Munroe, Leona Kyte, Linden Johnson and Deidre Baynes–Edghill. Standing are representatives from various clubs.

Leon Kyte has been elected as Assistant Treasurer, while two-time Olympian Chelsea Edghill will serve as Assistant Secretary.

Attorney-at-law Emily Dodson acted as the returning officer for the elections.

The first meeting of the new executive committee will determine further appointments, including committee members and the public relations officer.

In the meantime, the GTTA has announced the national team that will compete at the 2025 Caribbean Youth Table Tennis Championships, which will be held in Bridgetown, Barbados, from April 19th to 26th.

The newly elected executive will immediately focus on the continued preparation and support of this national youth team.
