A break-and-enter incident, accompanied by larceny, was reported at the Ministry of Labour building located at Lot 228 Grant Vryman’s Erven, New Amsterdam, Berbice. The incident is believed to have taken place between Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning.

Stolen from the premises were a desktop computer, a backup battery, and a water pump.

The two-storey concrete structure, which is typically secured by wooden doors fitted with external locks and reinforced by internally secured glass windows, was last locked by a 52-year-old cleaner responsible for opening and securing the building. She reported having locked up the premises before leaving for the day.

Upon her return the following morning, she discovered that a western door and one of the windows had been left open. She immediately raised an alarm, and the matter was subsequently reported to the police.

Ranks of the Guyana Police Force responded and confirmed that the items had been removed from the building. The surrounding area was examined for surveillance footage, and one nearby CCTV camera was identified. Authorities are currently reviewing the footage.

    The investigation remains ongoing.
