Zion Hickerson completes Madrid training camp


Zion Hickerson has successfully concluded a week-long training camp in Madrid, which included sessions at Atlético Madrid, Getafe FC, and Rayo Vallecano.
According to a press release, during his time in Spain, Hickerson trained under UEFA coaches and participated in two friendly matches.
The first match resulted in a loss to Rayo Vallecano, while the second ended in a draw against Getafe FC, with Hickerson scoring the second goal.
Madrid is a global football hub, home to four world-class teams, including Real Madrid.
Hickerson will now spend the following week competing in a tennis tournament in Madrid. His father believes that this exposure to high-level sport is crucial for Hickerson’s development as a future global sports star.
Hickerson is also taking the opportunity to learn more about the European sports system, given his son’s future sporting aspirations in Europe.
Following his time in Madrid, Hickerson will travel to England to train with Elite JR FC and then to France to train with Le Camilla FC.
The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, along with numerous companies in Guyana, is assisting in offsetting the expenses of young Hickerson
