Appeal Court upholds injunction granted in GRA/ Mohameds case
The Appeal Court of Guyana on Monday did not overturn an injunction granted by Justice Gino Persaud in April. That injunction prevents the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) from seizing luxury vehicles owned by businessman Azruddin Mohamed and his family.
The Court, comprising Chief Justice Roxane George and Justice Nareshwar Harnanan, handed down the decision.
The Mohameds were represented by Attorneys Siand Dhurjon and Damian Da Silva.
In April, Justice Persuad granted an order preventing the GRA from detaining and seizing four vehicles owned by the Mohameds: a Toyota Land Cruiser PAB 3000, a Toyota Land Cruiser PAB 4000, a Lamborghini Aventador PZZ 4000, and a Ferrari 488 PAD 5000.

This move came as the GRA moved to seize the vehicles. The Authority alleges that the vehicles were undervalued when imported to Guyana and as such, argued that the Mohameds paid less taxes than required.
With this Appeal Court ruling, the vehicles will stay with the Mohameds until the final determination of the substantive matter over the importation of the vehicles.
