Trans Racing team to compete in international Drag Racing

According to a press release from the team, a new chapter in Guyanese motorsport is set to be written as the Trans Racing Team prepares to become the first independent entry from the South American nation to compete on the international drag racing stage.

The team has announced a pioneering race schedule in Guyana, Trinidad, and Suriname.

This marks a significant step for local competitors aiming for regional recognition.

The press release states, “Trans Racing Team is undertaking this ambitious programme without the backing of the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMR&SC).”

Instead, their foray into international competition is being solely funded by Trans Pacific Motor Spares & Auto Sales Inc., a move the company says underscores the private sector’s belief in the potential of Guyanese motorsport.

A spokesperson for Trans Pacific Motor Spares & Auto Sales Inc. commented: “Trans Pacific Motor Spares & Auto Sales Inc. is honoured to be the sole sponsor behind this historic moment. We believe in breaking boundaries and investing in those bold enough to lead, and Trans Racing Team is doing exactly that.”

The team sees their participation as more than just competing; it is about demonstrating what can be achieved through passion and purpose, even without traditional institutional support.

Their international campaign commenced on Sunday with an appearance at the GMR&SC’s Endurance Meet, where they contested the Vitz Cup Group.

 Following this, they will travel to Trinidad for the Wallerfield Cup Finals on May 24-25, before returning to Guyana for the 1320 Heat Drag Racing Event on June 1. The international circuit will conclude with a final event in Suriname.

The team is making arrangements to transport their competition vehicles to each venue before the race dates, which will be logistically challenging.
