Elite League: GDF hammer Mainstay Goldstar 17-0; Ann’s Grove edge Monedderlust

Defending champions Guyana Defence Force pulled off an emphatic win over Mainstay Goldstar FC in the Guyana Football Federation’s Elite League on Sunday evening at the National Training Centre at Providence.

The army emerged with a thumping 17-0 success over the Essequibo club in a woefully one-sided affair.

The game was a done deal by the end of the first half, with GDF firing in seven goals.

Stephen McDonald was the scorer-in-chief, scoring five goals (9^th, 21^st, 30^th, 47^th and 54^th minutes), with Trayon Bobb adding a hat-trick (11^th, 45+2 and 56^th minutes).

Delroy Ferdinand (24^th and 35^th), Keron Spencer (49^th and 63^rd), Amos Ramsay (66^th and 86^th) and Colwyn Adams (82^nd and 85^th) scored doubles, while Leshawn Myles netted in the 81^st.

The previous night, at the Number Five ground in Berbice, East Coast club Ann’s Grove United prevailed 2-1 over Monedderlust.

Yohance Francis (4^th) and Alden Lawrence (89^th) netted for Ann’s Grove United, while Tryone Delph (25^th) was on target for Monedderlust.
