UPDATE: New Amsterdam businesswoman who died in accident lost control of vehicle

Stacy Walton, the 22-year-old businesswoman of New Amsterdam, Region Six (East Berbice- Corentyne), died in an accident early Friday morning after she lost control of the vehicle she was driving.

The Guyana Police Force, in a statement, noted that Walton was driving a car (#PAG 2279) along the No. 7 Public Road in East Berbice. At about 01:50 hrs Friday, she lost control of the car and crashed into a trench on the southern side of the road.

“The car, which was partially submerged, was spotted by public-spirited citizens who assisted in removing the driver, who was in an unconscious condition, and conveyed her to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital,” Police said.

The woman was pronounced dead and her body was taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital’s mortuary, awaiting a post-mortem examination.

It was also noted that enquiries revealed that Walton was imbibing sometime Thursday evening.
