Ralph Ramkarran, Timothy Jonas resign from ANUG amid partnership with Azruddin Mohamed & ‘WIN’

Ralph Ramkarran and Timothy Jonas, co-founders of A New and United Guyana (ANUG), resigned from the party on Sunday morning, just after it was announced that the party had joined forces with Azruddin Mohamed’s ‘We Invest in Nationhood’.

In a Facebook post, Mr. Ramkarran said he informed the current party leader, Dr. Mark France, of his decision to resign.

He shared this message sent to Dr. France: “As you know I have not been active in ANUG for about five years now and I have paid no membership dues. I am therefore unclear of my status. In the event that I still remain on the books as a member, I hereby formally tender my resignation.”

When contacted by the News Room, Mr. Ramkarran confirmed his resignation and said it was “because of [ANUG’s] purported association with the WIN party.”

He also shared that he had advised the party leadership against joining forces with the party. Mohamed is a local businessman who has been sanctioned by the United States US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) for gold smuggling and corruption.

Meanwhile, Mr. Jonas also shared his resignation in a Facebook post.

“This serves to inform that today I resigned as a member of A New and United Guyana,” Mr. Jonas wrote on his Facebook page.
