Caribbean Beauty & Intelligence Pageant for Guyana on Aug. 20; champions inclusivity and empowerment

In a dazzling celebration of Caribbean diversity and womanhood, nine remarkable contestants from across the region are gearing up to compete in the first-ever Miss Caribbean Beauty and Intelligence Pageant. The event, set for August 20 in Georgetown, promises an unforgettable night of culture, talent, and inspiration — all underpinned by a powerful message of inclusivity.

Franchise holder Pamela Vaughn says the pageant was born from her own passion for creating spaces where women can shine beyond traditional beauty standards. “The Miss Caribbean Beauty and Intelligence Pageant is about celebrating womanhood, empowerment and, most importantly, inclusivity,” Vaughn told the News Room.

Vaughn, who has been actively involved in regional pageantry for years, explained that she built connections with pageant officials across the Caribbean to bring her vision to life. Over the years, she has helped young women participate in events like the Miss Caribbean Talent Teen and Miss XXM Carnival pageants — but she felt there was room for something more.

This new pageant, she says, offers a second chance to women who may have shelved their pageant dreams due to life’s challenges. “It’s about giving young women — even those a bit older who once dreamed of being a queen — a chance to step forward again, to claim the spotlight they once thought they’d lost,” Vaughn said.

To qualify, contestants must be between 18 and 30 years old and must be citizens of any Caribbean country, by birth or naturalisation.

Among the contenders is 18-year-old Tytheon Jones, the reigning Miss Guyana Beauty and Intelligence Queen, who will proudly represent Guyana at the inaugural event. Jones, who also holds the titles of Miss Bartica Emancipation and Miss Bartica Regatta 2025, says she is ready to make her country proud.

“I am confident because when I step on stage, I shut out every negative thought and just put my best foot forward,” Jones said, brimming with optimism for the journey ahead.

As excitement builds for August 20, organisers hope the pageant will not only crown a queen but also inspire more women across the Caribbean to embrace their individuality and step boldly into spaces where they can shine.
