Dawn Hastings-Williams, a former General Secretary of the PNCR and former Minister of State under the APNU+AFC coalition, has joined forces with embattled businessman Azruddin Mohamed.

Mohamed, who has been sanctioned by the United States government, is seeking to contest the 2025 General and Regional Elections with his party, ‘We Invest in Nationhood.’

In a post made on Team Mohamed’s Facebook page, Hastings-Williams announced her support for the businessman.

“As an indigenous woman, I have, not only the interest of my people at heart, but that of all Guyanese regardless of political affiliation, religion or colour. I am therefore giving my full support to a team and a movement that will invest in Nationhood. It is my conviction that WIN provides a vision which is competitive, strong and fully equipped to lead Guyana into the future,” Hastings-Williams said.

It is unclear if she resigned from the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR), the party she and her family have been associated with for decades. However, she resigned from her post as General Secretary of the party in 2024.

Hastings-Williams, once seen as the most powerful woman at the helm of Guyana’s government, is a proud Akawaio woman of the Upper Mazaruni in Region Seven.
