President Ali: Guyana’s ‘greatest chapter’ still ahead and being built by the ‘red army’

President Dr Irfaan Ali, seeking a second term in office, has promised a future built not on empty promises, but on “unity, results and vision,” telling thousands of supporters that the PPP remains “the engine of development, growth and prosperity” for all Guyanese.

To get the job done, he said, depends on visionary leadership as he saluted Vice President and PPP General Secretary Dr Bharrat Jagdeo.

“My greatest honour is to share the stage with the greatest legend of modern-day politics in Guyana, and together we will do so for the rest of our lives,” the President said, as he stood alongside Dr Jagdeo.

“As long as we have life in our bodies, we will share the stage for the people.”

He said the PPP is marching towards victory with the “red army”, the PPP’s strong support base, as evidenced by a mammoth crowd at the PPP market square.

President Ali said the PPP’s achievements speak for themselves: the fastest-growing economy in the world, more than 50,000 house lots distributed, and investments turning Guyana into a hub for oil and gas, food production and tourism.

“We are building bridges, not barriers – from coast to coast, region to region,” he declared. “We don’t promise castles in the sky. We do what we say.”

He urged Guyanese to see beyond race or party lines: “When I look across this crowd, I don’t see African Guyanese, Indian Guyanese, Amerindian Guyanese, or Portuguese. I see the One Guyana we are building.”

And while the opposition “brings excuses and hardship,” President Ali argued the PPP “brings results and hope.” “Oil brings revenue – but wealth is built through the policies we pursue with that revenue,” he said.

“Our plan is to widen the income base of every family, to invest in human capital, to create opportunities beyond salaries,” President Ali declared.
