Corentyne teen found dead with chop wounds

A 16-year-old boy, Justin Smith of Number 47 Village, Corentyne Berbice, was brutally killed on Sunday night after being attacked by a group of men in neighbouring Number 46 Village.

According to his mother, Dhanraji Seenauth, Justin left home around 21:00 hrs and was later found with chop wounds to his back, neck and hand.

He collapsed near a Chicken outlet while still on his motorcycle, which showed only minor damage, ruling out an accident.

Justin died while being transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital.

Seenauth said her son had previously been targeted by certain villagers out of jealousy, but insisted he was peaceful, loving and did not deserve such a fate.

She is calling for a full police investigation and the arrest of those responsible.
