Police have reported that a 29-year-old woman says she was detained against her will, threatened with a gun, and pressured to drop assault charges after being beaten by political organizer Bradley ‘Doggy’ Sampson — all in the presence of prominent political figure Azruddin Mohamed and his armed security team.

An investigation was launched into the alleged assault and intimidation, which reportedly took place over two days and involved members of the political party We Invest in Nationhood (WIN), led by Mohamed. A wanted bulletin was issued for Sampson two days ago, but he has not yet been arrested. Meanwhile. Mr. Mohamed turned himself in to the authorities but was released without any charges after being questioned, and contact could not be made with the complainant.

According to a Police report, the woman, a sales representative from McDoom, East Bank Demerara, told investigators she was hired by Sampson to perform tasks for the WIN party on Nominations Day in exchange for GY$50,000. On July 15th, she went to the Square of the Revolution in Georgetown to collect her payment, but was given only GY$10,000.

An argument allegedly broke out, during which Sampson reportedly assaulted her, kicking and punching her and striking her in the head with a firearm. The woman said parts of the attack were caught on video and shared widely on social media.

Later that day, Sampson allegedly contacted her via Facebook Messenger, asking her to come to Azruddin Mohamed’s residence at Green Field, East Bank Demerara. When she arrived, the woman claims she was held at the location for over an hour by armed guards, during which Mohamed shouted at her for allowing the video to surface online.

She told Police that Mohamed instructed her to drop the case against Sampson, go with him to the police station, and withdraw the complaint, promising her GY$500,000 if she complied. One of the guards reportedly threatened her by lifting his shirt to show a concealed handgun and warning, “Don’t feel I don’t know you living in McDoom.”

The woman said she was eventually released and later received multiple calls from Sampson, urging her not to pursue the matter. She reported the incidents to the East La Penitence Police Station and was medically examined for her injuries.

The Police stated the allegations against Mohamed and his security guards are being treated with “utmost seriousness,” potentially involving charges such as assault, intimidation, unlawful confinement, and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

At approximately 10:20 hrs Thursday, Mr. Mohamed turned himself in at the Ruimveldt Police Station, accompanied by his attorney.

After being questioned, Mr. Mohamed and his lawyer Siand Dhurjon spoke to reporters.

Dhurjon said there is nothing “nefarious” about the $500,000 offer that is Mr. Mohamed allegedly offered the woman. And he said the young woman is “unwilling” to have a confrontation with Mohamed.

“We are ready willing and able to address all concerns,” Dhurjon told reporters.

Mohamed, however, denied offering the young woman any cash.

He said he engaged her since he is “against any person abusing women”.
Mohamed also told reporters that Sampson is not a member of his party.

“He is a fan, a supporter,” Mohamed said.

    The investigation remains ongoing.
