Prime Minister Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Phillips told residents of Mahdia, Region Eight (Potaro- Siparuni) that the grant given to them will increase to $100,000 and even more in the coming years.

“… We already seh it will not be less than $100,000. It will be $100,000 and more,” the Prime Minister said on Friday night during a People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) public meeting in the mining town.

The PPP/C is the governing political party. It is seeking re-election in the September 1, 2025 General and Regional Elections.

As he urged voters to support the PPP, Prime Minister Phillips promised them that the government would continue to prudently manage the economy. And once the economy expands due to good management, he said, increases in cash grants are certain.

“So as the economy grows, the money you will get will grow,” the Prime Minister said, earning him a loud round of applause from the Mahdia crowd dressed in red shirts- the signature colour of the PPP.

This year, each adult citizen got a $100,000 cash grant.
