People’s Progressive Party/Civic Executive Member Dr. Ashni Singh on Sunday delivered his address to his home county, Berbice, where he urged supporters to go out and vote on September 1, 2025.

“On 1st of September, we must not only return the People’s Progressive Party and Dr. Irfaan Ali to Government, but we must completely wipe the opposition out,” he declared at the party’s rally hosted at Albion Estate Road, Berbice.

“Vote People’s Progressive Party and put your X next to the cup,” he added.

Dr. Singh, who is also the Minister with responsibility for Finance, pointed out that the PPP is at its strongest ever, and this, he said, did not happen by accident. Rather is a result of promises delivered to the citizens of Guyana over the past five years.

This fact, he said, is demonstrated by the thousands of supporters who showed up decked out in their red outfits to show their support for the party.

“We are a party with vision, we are a party with credibility and commitment to deliver, we are a party that has the competence to formulate plans and to execute them to improve the lives of the people of Guyana,” the PPP executive said.

According to the General Secretary of the party, Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, who also addressed the rally at Albion, the PPP/C won 40,000 votes in Region Six in 2020. This year, he is hopeful to see that number increase to 55,000.

During his address, he also urged supporters to motivate people to go out and vote on September 1.

Voter turnout in the 2015 elections stood at 72.9% while at the last elections, this percentage reduced to 70.24% according to the Guyana Elections Commission.
