See below the full message from the APNU coalition:

Today, August 1, 2025, we commemorate Emancipation Day to mark the 187th anniversary of the abolition of slavery in Guyana. To all Guyanese, let this day inspire us to continue the ongoing struggle for true freedom, justice, and equality in our beloved country. To Afro-Guyanese, use this day to reflect on the historic journey of your ancestors who, through centuries of resistance, courage, determination and sacrifices, broke free from the shackles of slavery.

As we approach the upcoming General and Regional Elections, it is crucial that every Guyanese, especially our brothers and sisters of African descent, remain highly alert and mindful. The path to a better future for yourself, your family, your community and your country passes through your hands. Do not be fooled by empty promises or false narratives designed to manipulate your hopes and fears. Those who play politics with your lives and livelihoods see you only as pawns. Do not let their tactics divide us. Do not let them distract us from the real issues that affect our daily lives.

Let us, as Guyanese, use the month of Emancipation to take action to change our reality of discrimination, victimization, marginalization and inequality, high cost of living, and government incompetence and corruption. Let us, as one people, commit to rescuing Guyana, liberating ourselves and rejecting those whose political fortune depends on keeping us economically and politically oppressed. We urge every Guyanese to emancipate themselves from mental and other forms of slavery. Break free from fear, misinformation, and complacency. Do not sell your destiny for the bribes of those who are desperate for power only for themselves. Stand up for your constitutional rights to freedom of conscience, association, and assembly, and exercise your right to vote for a party that truly represents your interests.

Let us honour the struggles and sacrifices of our ancestors and renew our commitment to a future where every Guyanese can live with dignity, freedom, prosperity, and hope. Stand firm, stay vigilant, and let your voice be heard this election season.

    Happy Emancipation Day!
