Nine-year-old Sahil Naipaul, struck and killed in Crabwood Creek on Tuesday morning, was on his way home from a nearby shop.

His mother, 24-year-old Devi Ramkissoon of Grant 1802 Crabwood Creek, told reporters that she was at home when her son and his stepfather left to purchase some items.

Devi mentioned that her partner ensured Sahil was safe and close to home before proceeding in a different direction.

At approximately 12:45 hrs, Devi said she received the shocking news from neighbors that her son had been hit by a motorcar, registered PAK 6593, driven by a 21-year-old male from Grant 1803 Crabwood Creek.

Rushing to the scene, Devi found her son’s body in a nearby trench.

He was transported to the Skeldon Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Sahil was a student at Crabwood Creek Primary School.

Devi expressed her heartbreak, stating that the driver of the vehicle fled the scene without assisting her son.

Witnesses indicated that the car was attempting to overtake another vehicle when it veered into the corner, colliding with Sahil and sending him into the trench.

“I want justice for my son,” the grieving mother said.

The driver has been apprehended and is in police custody to assist with the investigation.
