Guyana to battle French Guiana in Tier II semi-final of CFU girls’ U-14 challenge series
Fueled by an undefeated run, the Guyana U-14 girls’ national team will face French Guiana in the first Tier II semifinal of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) U-14 Challenge Series on Friday at the Larry Gomes Stadium from 14:00h.
The girls earned their spot after topping Group C with a hard-fought 0-0 draw against the Cayman Islands at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.
The defensive stalemate highlighted the team’s resilience, as they successfully withstood a late offensive from the Cayman Islands to secure the clean sheet.
This draw followed three impressive victories for the Guyanese side. They secured a crucial 1-0 win over Anguilla, thanks to a penalty from Lehiana Bengamin, and also triumphed over the Turks and Caicos Islands (2-0) and Antigua and Barbuda (2-1).
A victory against French Guiana would see the team advance to the Tier II final on Sunday.
