Elections 2025: PPP wins Region 8
The Region 8 declarations
The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) has won Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni), the official results from the Region show, adding to the stunning defeat of the PNC-led APNU in the 2025 general and regional elections.
The PPP secured 2,872 votes, with APNU barely scraping 276. It was a definitive loss for a party that had control of the Potaro-Siparuni region.
The PPP also won the region over newcomer WIN, which took home 2,562 votes.
Based on these results and that of seven other regions, the PPP has won the general and regional elections comfortably.
EDITOR’S NOTE: GECOM subsequently updated this declaration to reflect a total of 57 votes cast for AFC instead of 56 as shown in the photo.
