The newly formed We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) party clinched the most votes in Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice), blowing away the Partnership for National Unity (APNU) coalition.

This is an electoral district traditionally won by the People’s National Congress, which is now the major constituent of APNU, so WIN’s 10,548 votes (in the General Election) compared to APNU’s 5,334 come as a major upset in the elections.

In the 2020 elections (General), APNU got 19,169 votes in Region 10 while the PPP/C got 3,162.

The incumbent People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) got the third-highest number of votes in the region- 4,260 votes.

The Forward Guyana Movement (818), Alliance for Change (224) and Assembly for Liberty and Prosperity (82) captured the remaining votes from the region.

The votes in the regional election component were roughly the same. WIN got 10,262 votes; APNU, 5,370; PPP, 4,197; FGM, 818; AFC, 224; and ALP, 82.

A total of 21,009 valid votes were cast in the region in the general elections component; 20,953 valid votes were cast for the regional component.
