Trevi Leung, the Mayor of Mabaruma in Region One is under investigation following allegations of sexual assault.
Director of Communications at the Guyana Police Force, Mark Ramotar on Wednesday, confirmed this.
The News Room understands that a female made a report of sexual assault from the region.
Leung was elected as Mayor in 2023.
