    A 38-year-old housewife of Enmore, East Coast Demerara, and a 30-year-old taxi driver of Craig Old Road, East Bank Demerara, were on Tuesday charged jointly with conspiracy to commit murder.

    The accused are Anita Varsha Chetram, called Anita, and Akeem Orin Bristol, known as Biggs. They are accused of plotting to kill Bhagmattie Jagatram, called Shabana, a 44-year-old woman of Enmore. The alleged offence occurred between 1st and 24th September, 2025, at Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke Highway.

    Chetram was arrested on 26th September by ranks from the Enmore Police Station, while Bristol was arrested a day later by police from Providence.

    The duo appeared before Magistrate Tameika Clarke at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court around 14:30 hrs today, where the charge was read to them. They were not required to enter a plea.

    Both Chetram and Bristol were remanded to prison and are expected to return to court on 7th November, 2025.
