One year after the abduction of Joshua David, known as “Bricks,” his family continues to seek answers as the case moves slowly through the courts.

At a candlelight vigil held on Main Street, Georgetown recently, David’s mother, Pierre David, described the ongoing pain of not knowing her son’s whereabouts.

“Today is one year, I come out here seeking justice.

“Sometimes I watch he picture on the wall and I start crying the whole day. My children does got to come and say, ‘Mommy, you got to hold it up,’ but I can’t help it. All I seeking for is justice and the whereabouts for my son,” Pierre told reporters.

Despite the emotional toll, Pierre said she has confidence in the Police investigation.

“The police are doing their job… It got footage showing they carrying my child, they kidnap he and they going with he. I feel I will get justice. God in charge,” she added.

Joshua David was abducted on the evening of September 26, 2024, outside a restaurant on Main Street, Georgetown, where he had gone to buy food.

Police immediately launched a search focusing on the backlands of Buxton and Annandale, East Coast Demerara but after three days, no evidence was found.

Seven men have been charged in connection with the abduction and were granted bail of $500,000 each. They are: Aaron Alleyne, known as “Cats”; Wayne Barker, 34, of Laing Avenue, Georgetown; Damion Barlow, 32, of Sophia; Dwayne Griffith, known as “Sheep,” 27; Daventai Mars, 21, of Middle Road, La Penitence, Alpha Poole and Osafo Peters.

The men are facing charges of abducting David with the intent to secretly and wrongfully confine him.

The matter remains before the court and is scheduled to be called again later this month. Police sources confirmed the investigation remains active.

For Pierre David, the past year has been marked by anguish and uncertainty.

“I still feeling messed up. It’s only who feels it knows it… but I believe I will get justice,” she said.
