Unidentified man fatally shot in La Penitence 

Police have launched an investigation into the fatal shooting of an unidentified man early Tuesday morning on Middle Road, La Penitence, Georgetown.

The shooting occurred around 03:45 hrs.

According to reports, the victim, a male of mixed race, was found lying motionless on the roadway by residents who alerted the authorities.

The News Room was told that when Police arrived at the scene the man, was discovered lying on his left side in a crouching position.

He was clad in a blue long pants, a blue-and-white striped jersey, red boxer shorts, and a pair of black Nike slippers.

Emergency Medical Technicians were summoned and the victim was pronounced dead by a doctor from the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.

The News Room understands that a preliminary examination revealed what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the victim’s forehead. The bullet exited through the back of his head.

Residents in the area told investigators that the man was often seen walking in the community and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

His body was taken to the hospital mortuary awaiting identification and a post-mortem examination as investigations continue.
