Guyanese women shine at the 2025 Caribbean Global Awards in London

Guyana proudly celebrated outstanding success at the Caribbean Global Awards (CGA) 2025, hosted at the prestigious Cumberland Hotel in London. With over 300 distinguished Caribbean and African guests in attendance, two Guyanese women emerged as winners in key categories, reinforcing the nation’s growing global presence in leadership, sustainability, and cultural influence.

Dr. Alista Bishop was named the Outstanding Global Leader of the Year, a recognition of her remarkable contributions to international development, leadership, and representation of Guyanese excellence on the world stage. Her win ensures that Guyana retains its strong presence at the awards, following in the footsteps of H.E. President Dr. Irfaan Ali, who was named the 2024 Caribbean Global Leader.

In another proud moment for Guyana, Miranda Thakur-Deen was awarded the title of Visionary in Global Sustainability.

Adding to the night’s celebrations, Dr. Bishop also took home the coveted Best Dressed Female Award 2025, captivating the audience in a handcrafted black and gold gown designed by Guyanese couturier House of Pearson.

Speaking after receiving her award, Dr. Bishop said:

“It is with immense pride that I accept this recognition on behalf of Guyana and the Caribbean. These awards reflect not just personal achievement, but the resilience, innovation, and excellence of our people. To see both Miranda and I honored is a testament to the talent Guyana continues to share with the world.”

Miranda Thakur-Dean expressed her gratitude, saying:

“This award is not mine alone—it belongs to every Guyanese who believes in sustainability, equity, and the power of visionary thinking. I am humbled to continue the legacy of excellence set by our leaders, and to contribute to keeping Guyana’s voice strong on the global stage.”

The Caribbean Global Awards continue to highlight the exceptional achievements of Caribbean and African leaders across diverse fields. This year’s celebration showcased the brilliance, style, and global impact of Guyanese women, marking 2025 as a milestone year for the country.

Mrs. Thakur-Deen was also name Caribbean Ambassador for Guyana and Dr. Bishop is apart of her team on the committee to select the next batch of CGA leaders.
