The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) and Machinery Corporation of Guyana (MACORP) on Thursday (October 16, 2025) announced the strengthening of their partnership to enhance the competence of local footballers.

Through an alliance birthed in 2021, male and female footballers are exposed to excavator and technician scholarship programmes, preparing them for life beyond the football pitch.

GFF and MACORP have emphasised the importance of developing well-rounded athletes, noting that success on the field must be matched with opportunities off it, so players are prepared for every stage of their lives.

GFF President Wayne Forde, today hosted a courtesy visit from MACORP representatives, Miguel Oviedo, Training Manager, and Weneta Pooran, Training Coordinator.

The meeting focused on strengthening the collaboration between both organisations to equip young athletes with essential skills and educational opportunities.

Central to the discussions were initiatives supporting player welfare and preparing footballers for life beyond the sport, with particular attention to players aged 18 to 30.

The meeting emphasised the importance of developing well-rounded athletes, noting that success on the field must be matched with opportunities off it, so players are prepared for every stage of their lives.

The GFF representatives highlighted the Federation’s commitment to fostering environments where athletes can grow both professionally and personally.

Both parties expressed optimism about expanding programmes aimed at holistic player development, including potential workshops, mentorship opportunities, and educational initiatives.

They agreed to continue exploring collaborative strategies to ensure Guyanese footballers receive the guidance, skills and support necessary for long-term success.
