    Prolific Guyanese cyclist Briton John won the feature race on Sunday afternoon when the Kaieteur Attack Cycling Club staged the fourth edition of its ‘Fireworks’ event to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2025.

    The 25-lap race took place around the Kingston Seawall Bandstand circuit, attracting a large turnout of riders and spectators for an afternoon of competitiveness, camaraderie and cycling excellence, all for a good cause.

    Minister within the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport Steven Jacobs witnessed the event in its entirety and commended the organisers and riders for their initiative in using sport to bring awareness to a critical health issue.

    In giving the charge to the close to 50 competitors, Minister Jacobs reminded them of the reason they are competing in the specific race, noting that with every turn of their pedal they are contributing to the fight against Breast Cancer.

    Apart from the main race, which featured the Elites, Masters 35-49 and Juniors, the opening event, which went for 12 laps, catered for the Masters 50+ and Category Four riders, while there was a BMX One-Lap Derby for the young ones.

    One of the highlights of the day was 12-year-old Njisane, son of the late national cyclist Alanzo Greaves riding the junior event as a tribute to his father.

    Below are the top performers of the various categories: 

    • Masters 50+: (1st- James Joseph, 2nd- Ian Jackson, 3rd- Ray Harlequin)
    • Category Four: (1st- Tyrone Hamilton, 2nd- Kwame Fortune, 3rd- Andy Rajkarran)
    • Seniors: (1st- Briton John, 2nd- Jadian Neaves (Trinidad), 3rd- Liam Trepte (Trinidad), 4th- Dominic Howard (Barbados), 5th- Aaron Newton, 6th- Christopher Griffth)
    • Juniors: (1st- Ajani Cutting, 2nd- Alex Newton, 3rd- Alexander Leung)
    • Masters 35-49: (1st- Adam Alexander (Trinidad), 2nd- Seagun Hubbard, 3rd- Alex Mendes)
