The trial into the March 2020 General and Regional Elections has been adjourned until November 17, 2025 when proceedings will continue before Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

The adjournment follows last week’s proceedings, during which new evidence was presented, previous witnesses were cross-examined, and a void dire was heard.

The matter is being managed under case management guidelines. This structured approach helps to streamline the process and ensure that all parties are adequately prepared for each stage of the trial.

Nine individuals are currently before the court accused of conspiring to manipulate the 2020 election results in favour of the APNU+AFC coalition, allegedly seeking to deny victory to the People’s Progressive Party (PPP).

Among those charged are former government minister Volda Lawrence, former Chief Elections Officer Keith Lowenfield, former Region Four Returning Officer Clairmont Mingo, and former Deputy Chief Elections Officer Roxanne Myers.

The controversy surrounding the March 2020 elections resulted in a five-month delay in declaring the results. PPP candidate Irfaan Ali was eventually sworn in as President on August 2, 2020.
